What is Cobalt?

Cobalt (Co) is a silver-gray transition metal. In cemented carbide, cobalt serves as the binder phase. It bonds tungsten carbide particles together during sintering and endows the brittle tungsten carbide with toughness to resist impact and chipping.

After treatment by bell-type zinc reclaim furnace, cobalt remains mixed with tungsten carbide powder for reproduction of cemented carbide, while only zinc is separated and recovered.
